1 AN ACT in relation to taxation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Property Tax Code is amended by changing
5 Section 3-45 as follows:
6 (35 ILCS 200/3-45)
7 Sec. 3-45. Election of county assessor; counties of less
8 than 3,000,000. In counties having an elected board of review
9 under Section 6-35, a county assessor shall be elected. To be
10 elected as county assessor, a person must meet the
11 eligibility requirements set forth in Section 3-5 for
12 supervisors of assessment have at least 2 years experience in
13 the field of property sales, assessments, finance or
14 appraisals.
15 The county clerk must determine if candidates for
16 assessor have qualified under this Code prior to
17 certification of their nominating petitions. The election of
18 the county assessor shall be at the same time and in the same
19 manner as other county officials are elected under the
20 general election law. The county assessor shall hold office
21 for a 4 year term and until a successor is elected and
22 qualified. Vacancies shall be filled in the same manner as
23 are vacancies in other county elective offices.
