AN ACT concerning safety.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Interstate Mutual Emergency Aid Act is |
amended by adding Section 12 as follows:

(5 ILCS 235/12 new) |
Sec. 12. Emergency aid to bordering states. |
Notwithstanding any provision of this Act to the contrary, any |
public safety agency, including, but not limited to, a fire |
department, a fire protection district, emergency medical |
services, a municipal police department, a county sheriff's |
department, a local emergency management agency, a local |
public works department, or public or private contractors of |
any such public safety agency, may provide assistance to any |
other public safety agency in the State or in a bordering State |
at the time of a disaster, such as a fire, earthquake, flood, |
tornado, hazardous material incident, or other such disaster. |
