 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, Senator Bob Madigan served the people of Central
 3    Illinois with distinction for 14  years,  from  1987  through
 4    2001; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Senator Madigan served honorably as Chairman of
 6    the Senate Insurance and Pensions Committee, and was a member
 7    of  the  Senate  Committees  on   Licensed   Activities   and
 8    Agriculture and Conservation; and

 9        WHEREAS,  Senator  Madigan's  legislative accomplishments
10    include sponsoring continuing  appropriations  for  the  five
11    public  employee pension systems, protecting the integrity of
12    the  retired  teachers  health  insurance  program,   passing
13    mandatory   auto   insurance,   sponsoring  the  Conservation
14    Enhancement Program and providing leadership on proposals  to
15    diversify  Illinois  agriculture and boost the rural economy;
16    and

17        WHEREAS,  He  served   on   the   state   Commission   on
18    Intergovernmental  Cooperation, the Board of Directors of the
19    Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan and  was  Co-chairman  of
20    the Illinois Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus; and

21        WHEREAS,  Bob Madigan received such honors as Guardian of
22    Small Business from the National  Federation  of  Independent
23    Business,  the  Illinois Nurses Association Legislator of the
24    Year, the Illinois Primary Health Care Association Legislator
25    Award, the Voice  of  Employers  Award  from  the  Management
26    Association  of  Illinois, the Illinois Optometric Legislator
27    of the Year, the Illinois Leadership Council for Agricultural
28    Excellence Award, and Friend of Agriculture from the Illinois
29    Farm Bureau; and

30        WHEREAS, Before  beginning  his  legislative  career,  he
31    served  as  City  Clerk  of  Lincoln  and  Special  Education

 1    teacher; and

 2        WHEREAS, Bob Madigan is a member of Holy Family Church in
 3    Lincoln,  the  Knights  of  Columbus,  Sons  of  the American
 4    Revolution, Elks and Eagles, and a former trustee of  Abraham
 5    Lincoln Hospital and St. Clara's Manor; therefore be it

 6        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
 7    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we thank Bob  Madigan
 8    for   his  service  to  Illinois  and  honor  him  with  this
 9    resolution; and be it further

10        RESOLVED, That a  suitable  copy  of  this  preamble  and
11    resolution be presented to Bob Madigan with our best wishes.
