1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Senator N. Duane Noland has served in the
3 Illinois General Assembly since 1990, serving eight years in
4 the House of Representatives and four years in the Senate;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, He served with distinction and honor in both
7 chambers, most recently being selected as Assistant Majority
8 Leader in the Senate; and
9 WHEREAS, He graduated from Blue Mound public schools and
10 the University of Illinois where he earned a Bachelor of
11 Science degree in Agriculture Education/Economics; and
12 WHEREAS, In his non-legislative life, Senator Noland
13 spends many hours helping farm his family's seventh
14 generation centennial farm; and
15 WHEREAS, Senator Noland also works as assistant vice
16 president/marketing specialist with Hickory Point Bank &
17 Trust in Decatur; and
18 WHEREAS, Senator Noland has worked to ensure state
19 government lives within its means, promote a strong
20 agricultural economy while balancing the needs of rural and
21 urban residents, and preserve quality of life through safe
22 schools legislation, tough anti-crime measures and bills to
23 help senior citizens remain independent; and
24 WHEREAS, He has helped pass such significant legislation
25 for our rural communities as the ban on MTBE, the
26 establishment of drummer silty clay loam as our state soil,
27 the AgriFIRST value-added agriculture incentives, and Route
28 51 expansion; and
29 WHEREAS, He is a board member for the American Red Cross,
30 a former board member of the Illinois Farm Bureau, the

1 Illinois Corn Growers Association, and the Lincoln Trails
2 Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and a member of the
3 Millikin University Board of Trustees; and
4 WHEREAS, He has been honored by numerous organizations
5 including the Illinois Health Care Association, Baby Talk,
6 Illinois Farm Bureau, ABATE, Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce for
7 Decatur and Macon County, and the American Soybean
8 Association; and
9 WHEREAS, Senator Noland was born and raised in Blue
10 Mound, Illinois where he met his wife, Tina Beckett Noland,
11 and where they now raise their sons Grant and Blake;
12 therefore be it
13 RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that N. Duane Noland will
15 be sorely missed and that his colleagues wish him all the
16 best in his future endeavors; and be it further
17 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to Senator N. Duane Noland and his family with our
19 thanks for a job well done.
