1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Jane E.
4 Lanter of Shiloh on Thursday, December 5, 2002; and
5 WHEREAS, Jane E. Lanter was born October 14, 1957 in East
6 St. Louis to Dave and Joan C. Wagner Howelman; her mother
7 preceded her in death; and
8 WHEREAS, Mrs. Lanter was a graduate of Belleville
9 Township High School East; she received a degree in marketing
10 and advertising from the University of Illinois where she was
11 a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority; and
12 WHEREAS, Mrs. Lanter was an active community volunteer;
13 she was a member of the Violence Prevention Center (formerly
14 the Women's Crisis Center), Call for Help, Wolf Branch PTC,
15 Althoff Mother's Club, and CASA; she was a board member and
16 fundraiser for the Junior Service Club of St. Clair County;
17 and
18 WHEREAS, Mrs. Lanter was a member of St. Albert the Great
19 Catholic Church in Fairview Heights; she will be remembered
20 as a loving mother, wife, and family member; and
21 WHEREAS, Her passing has been deeply felt by all who knew
22 her, especially her husband, Steve Lanter; her children,
23 Caitlin, Alex, and Margaret Lanter; her father, Dave
24 Howelman; her sister, Julia Howelman; and her grandmother,
25 Margie Howelman; therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
27 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
28 of Jane E. Lanter of Shiloh and offer our sincere condolences
29 to her family and friends in their time of sorrow; and be it
30 further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Jane E. Lanter with our deepest
3 sympathy.
