1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Robert M.
4 Lindblad of Antioch on Monday, December 2, 2002; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Lindblad was born on July 30, 1923 in
6 Highspire, Pennsylvania; he married Dorothy L. Dunn in
7 Maywood on January 11, 1946; and
8 WHEREAS, He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during
9 World War II and was a member of VFW Post #4551 of Antioch
10 where he was the senior vice commander; and
11 WHEREAS, He was an active member of the community; he was
12 a member of the United Methodist Church of Antioch, President
13 of the Lakes Region Historical Society and he was
14 instrumental in the restoration of the old St. Ignatius
15 Church into the Meeting House; and
16 WHEREAS, He served on the District #34 Grade School Board
17 for four years; he served on the Antioch Community High
18 School Board from 1964 until 1987 and he was President of the
19 Board for 14 years and oversaw a major addition to the
20 school; he was a member of the Lake County Regional School
21 Board and was a past President; he was a member of the
22 Antioch Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a member of the
23 fund raising committee of the William E. Brook Memorial
24 Wetland and Entertainment Center, a member of AARP and Senior
25 Citizens, and a member of the Lakeland Players and the PM&L
26 Theater in Antioch; he was the parade marshal for the Fourth
27 of July Parade in 2002; and
28 WHEREAS, Prior to his retirement, he worked as a business
29 manager for Raymond Chevrolet and Oldsmobile of Antioch; and
30 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by many,
31 especially his wife, Dorothy; his three daughters, Susan

1 (Marshall) Bickel, Wendy (Richard) Maston, and Robin (Thomas)
2 Kessell; his brother, Ray (Lorraine) Lindblad; his seven
3 grandchildren, Patience (Christopher) Bertana, Jason Bickel,
4 Amy Bickel, Robin (Michael) Rhodes, Justin Bickel, and
5 Kristen and Gretchen Kessell; his two great-granchildren,
6 Katrina and Lucais; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
9 of Robert M. Lindblad of Antioch and offer his family and
10 friends our sincere condolences; and be it further
11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the family of Robert M. Lindblad with our
13 deepest sympathy.
