1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were saddened
3 to learn of the death of Elizabeth "Betty" Scanlon of Morton
4 Grove, who passed away on September 5, 2002; and
5 WHEREAS, Mrs. Scanlon was born June 1, 1928 in Chicago;
6 she was a homemaker and the beloved wife of Morton Grove
7 Mayor Daniel Scanlon; she was preceded in death by three
8 sons, David, Thomas, and Daniel; and
9 WHEREAS, She was known for her volunteer work at the
10 Veterans Administration hospital, and as an election judge;
11 she also volunteered extensively at St. Martha Catholic
12 Church in Morton Grove and performed volunteer work on behalf
13 of American Legion Post 134, of which her husband is a
14 member; and
15 WHEREAS, She will be remembered as a gracious first lady
16 for the Village of Morton Grove; and
17 WHEREAS, She will be deeply missed by all who were
18 fortunate enough to know her, especially her husband, Daniel;
19 her daughters, Mary (Paul) Zimmermann, Patricia (Doug)
20 Newmann, Eileen (Keith) Harford, Joan (Larry) Alberts, and
21 Peggy (Ken) Leib; her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sarah,
22 Stephanie, David, Brian, Jennifer, Megan, Katelyn, Matthew,
23 Michael and Julia; her sisters, Nancy (Robert) Hillinger and
24 Barbara (John) White; and her sisters-in-law, Mary Catherine
25 and Brenda Scanlon; therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
27 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
28 and regret the passing of Elizabeth "Betty" Scanlon and
29 extend our sincere condolences to her family and countless
30 friends; and it be further
31 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
