1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Gordon
4 "Gordy" Kiesgen of Spring Grove on Monday, October 28, 2002;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, Mr. Kiesgen was born in Chicago to Gordon and
7 Ruth (nee Culbertson) Kiesgen on January 10, 1936; he
8 graduated from Grant Community High School in 1955; he
9 married Diane (nee Drews) in Waukegan on July 9, 1966; and
10 WHEREAS, He was a former employee with Barber Coleman of
11 Lincolnwood and was a member of the Local #597 Pipefitters
12 Union of Chicago; he was a Grant Township official for 46
13 years; he served as Grant Township Clerk from 1956 to 1992,
14 and left the position to become Grant Township Supervisor; he
15 was instrumental in opening the 1.3 million dollar Grant
16 Township Hall; he was responsible for the inception of and
17 fundraising for the Grant Township Field of Dreams; and
18 WHEREAS, Mr. Kiesgen was a member of the Fox Lake
19 Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years, and served as
20 chaplain; he served as a chaplain and lieutenant with the Fox
21 Lake Rescue Squad; he played Santa for the Rescue Squad
22 Christmas parties and for the Fox Lake Rotary Club's
23 Breakfast with Santa for the past 40 years; and
24 WHEREAS, Mr. Kiesgen was a longtime active member and
25 past president of the Grant Township Republicans Club; he was
26 a charter member, founding officer as well as past president
27 of the Chain O'Lakes Ducks Unlimited Chapter; and
28 WHEREAS The loss of Mr. Kiesgen will be deeply felt by
29 many, especially his wife, Diane; his children, Deborah
30 "Debbie" (Dan) Carole, Gordon "Gordy" (Nanette) Kiesgen, and
31 Brian (Cheryl) Kiesgen; his grandchildren, Danny and Kalie

1 Carole, Gordon Kiesgen IV, and Benjamin Kiesgen; his brother
2 Jack (Kimber) Kiesgen; his nieces and nephews, Donald (Lisa)
3 Kiesgen, Noreen (Mike) Ribbs, Brenda (Chuck) Fagan, Nicole
4 (Mike) Sprague, and Michael, Neil, and Alex Drews; and many
5 other family members and friends; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the loss of
8 Gordon "Gordy" Kiesgen and offer our sincere condolences to
9 his family and friends; and be it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Gordon "Gordy" Kiesgen.
