1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of David M. Bybee of Silvis, who passed
4 away May 31, 2002; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Bybee was born in Moline to Carlus E. and
6 Marilla Utzinger Bybee; he married Judy Short on August 21,
7 1965 in Rock Island; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Bybee worked as a laborer for Amtex,
9 International Harvester, and the former Wilken Pipe & Supply;
10 he then worked at the Moline Post Office, retiring in
11 September 2000 after 33 years of service; Mr. Bybee also
12 worked as the National Business Agent of Chicago, Region 3,
13 for the last 25 years; and
14 WHEREAS, Mr. Bybee was a member of the National
15 Association of Letter Carriers Branch 318, which was named
16 after him; he was involved in several union activities,
17 including vice president of AFL-CIO for the State of
18 Illinois; he was a member of First Baptist Church, East
19 Moline, a former fire chief of Carbon Cliff, and a school
20 board member; and
21 WHEREAS, Mr. Bybee was actively involved with Democratic
22 politics for several years; he was a member of Moline Elks
23 Club BPOE 556; David Bybee enjoyed traveling, auto racing,
24 reading, politics, and spending time with his grandchildren;
25 and
26 WHEREAS, David Bybee will be deeply missed by all those
27 who knew him and loved him, especially his wife, Judy; his
28 sons, Michael Bybee and John Bybee; his grandchildren, Ryan,
29 Brandon, and Jennifer; his mother Marilla Bybee; his brother,
30 Richard Bybee; and his nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
31 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL

1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
2 his family and friends, the death of David M. Bybee; and be
3 it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of David Bybee with our most sincere
6 condolences.
