1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Everett T. Pogue, who passed away on March 7, 2002; and
5 WHEREAS, Everett T. Pogue was born on October 22, 1916 in
6 Virden, Illinois, to Elvis and Amanda Smith Pogue; he married
7 Velma R. Price in 1947 in Virden; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Pogue worked as a mechanic at Mueller
9 Garage, Wilson Garage, and Rathgeb Brothers; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Pogue was a member of the Illinois National
11 Guard for 20 years, retiring in 1976 as a sergeant first
12 class; he was a United States Army veteran of World War II,
13 serving in the Pacific Theater; and
14 WHEREAS, Mr. Pogue was a life member of Guy Baird
15 American Legion Post 554 and John L. Meyer VFW Post; and
16 WHEREAS, The passing of Everett T. Pogue will be deeply
17 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife,
18 Velma; his sons, Wayne (wife, Mary) Pogue and Tom (wife,
19 Mary) Pogue; his daughters, Bev (husband, Richard) Ulaszek
20 and Barb (husband, Bruce) Draper; his five grandchildren; and
21 his two great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
23 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
24 all who knew him, the death of Everett T. Pogue of
25 Carlinville, Illinois; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to the family of Everett T. Pogue with our sincere
28 condolences.
