1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of William R. Cortesi of Lake Forest,
4 who passed away March 11, 2002; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Cortesi was born September 10, 1940, in
6 Highland Park, to John and Jean Cortesi; he attended
7 Immaculate Conception Grade School in Highland Park, St.
8 George High School in Evanston, and Christian Brothers
9 College in Memphis, Tennessee; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Cortesi was co-owner of Sunset Food Mart,
11 Inc. and led the family business into new stores in
12 Libertyville and Northbrook; he always took an active
13 interest in the quality of customer service; his family and
14 business have treated customers with the utmost respect for
15 65 years; and
16 WHEREAS, The church was a very important part of the
17 Cortesi family's life; Mr. Cortesi was on the board of
18 Catholic Charities and was active in a wide variety of local
19 charitable efforts; his brother is a priest and his family is
20 quite generous to the community; and
21 WHEREAS, Mr. Cortesi will be deeply missed by all of
22 those who knew him and loved him, especially his wife, Joni;
23 his son, John Everett (Denise) Cortesi; his daughters, Sember
24 (Maxim) Meyers and Heather (Dennis) Fairbanks; his parents,
25 John and Jean Cortesi; his brother, Father David Cortesi; his
26 sister, Teri (Dr. John) McGillen; and his grandchildren,
27 Dett, Samuel, and Cecily Meyers; therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
29 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
30 his family and friends, the passing of William R. Cortesi;
31 and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of William R. Cortesi of Lake Forest
3 with our sincere condolences.
