1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the passing of James Michael Canelakes of Beach
4 Park, who died March 17, 2002; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Canelakes was born to Tom and Kathryn
6 Canelakes of Waukegan; and
7 WHEREAS, Mr. Canelakes was a member of St. Demetrios
8 Greek Orthodox Church, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a
9 graduate of Southern Illinois University; he was a History
10 and Civics teacher at Waukegan High School; and
11 WHEREAS, Mr. Canelakes loved baseball and played softball
12 in various leagues within Waukegan; earlier in his life, Mr.
13 Canelakes hitchhiked through Europe; and
14 WHEREAS, James Michael Canelakes will be deeply missed by
15 all those who knew him and loved him, especially his wife,
16 Tammie; his son, Peter; his three step children, Crystal,
17 Natasha, and James; his parents, Tom and Kathryn Canelakes;
18 his brother, Tony (Linda) Canelakes; his nephew, Tom
19 Canelakes; his niece, Amanda Canelakes Ewing; and his two
20 great nephews, Nicholas and Anthony; therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
22 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
23 his family and friends, the death of James Michael Canelakes
24 of Beach Park; and be it further
25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
26 presented to the family of James Michael Canelakes with our
27 sincere condolences.
