1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of William Belmont, Sr., who passed away on February 14,
5 2002; and
6 WHEREAS, William Belmont, Sr. was the second of two sons
7 born to the late Ernest and Lillie Belmont on August 18, 1925
8 in Dyersburg, Tennessee; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Belmont was united in marriage to the late
10 Mildred Moore in 1950; to this union two children were born,
11 William Jr. and Brenda; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Belmont, or "Bell" as he was known by many
13 of his friends, was a member of Aahmes Temple #132; he was
14 also a 33rd degree Mason and Tyree Consistory and a member of
15 Joppa Lodge #79; and
16 WHEREAS, Mr. Belmont was employed with Granite City Steel
17 for many years; in addition, he was employed by the city of
18 East St. Louis for over 35 years in many capacities such as
19 Director of the Building Department, Director of Public
20 Safety, and was currently employed as a Project Technician
21 for Demolition CDBG; and
22 WHEREAS, The passing of William Belmont, Sr. will be
23 deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his
24 son, William Belmont, Jr.; his daughters, Brenda Coleman and
25 Corliss Wilson; his granddaughters, Caberta Brown, Chaunta
26 Belmont, Virginia Coleman, Karla Green, and Joy McGaughy; his
27 grandson, William Belmont, III; his great-grandchildren; his
28 nephew, Jack Hampton; his niece, Jewell Owens; and his many
29 other relatives and friends; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
31 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with

1 all who knew him, the death of William Belmont, Sr. of East
2 St. Louis, Illinois; and be it further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to the family of William Belmont, Sr. with our
5 sincere condolences.
