1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their most sincere condolences to the family and
4 friends of Dr. William H. Donovan of Aurora, Illinois, who
5 passed away on January 17, 2002; and
6 WHEREAS, Dr. Donovan was born on March 30, 1923 in East
7 Chicago, Indiana to William an Minna Donovan; he was a member
8 of Our Savior Lutheran Church; and
9 WHEREAS, Dr. Donovan was a veteran of World War II and
10 served in the U.S. Army; he reenlisted for the Korean
11 Conflict and served in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force;
12 and
13 WHEREAS, Dr. Donovan received his pre-medical school
14 education at Indiana University and the University of
15 Chicago; he received his M.D. degree from Ohio State
16 University; Dr. Donovan joined the Dreyer Medical Clinic in
17 1955 as an obstetrician and it is estimated that he delivered
18 more than seven thousand babies before he retired in 1988;
19 and
20 WHEREAS, Dr. Donovan had a gruff exterior but a "heart of
21 gold"; his patients loved him and he got along well with his
22 fellow doctors and nurses; and
23 WHEREAS, The passing of Dr. William H. Donovan will be
24 deeply felt by all those who knew him and loved him,
25 especially by his wife of 56 years, Peg Donovan; his
26 daughter, Jill (Dr. Ronald) Maio; his son Dr. Scott (Debra)
27 Donovan; his six grandchildren, Andrea Maio, Angela, Tony,
28 Christopher, Ryan, and Timothy Donovan; therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, with all
31 who knew him, the death of Dr. William H. Donovan of Aurora,

1 Illinois; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be sent
3 to the family of Dr. William H. Donovan with our most sincere
4 condolences.
