1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Joan Hagenson, who passed away on November 13, 2001; and
5 WHEREAS, Joan Hagenson served as the Executive Director
6 of the Self-Help Closet & Pantry of Des Plaines; and
7 WHEREAS, Prior to heading the Self-Help Closet & Pantry
8 of Des Plaines, Joan Hagenson served as a volunteer for four
9 years; and
10 WHEREAS, During her 16 months as Executive Director, Joan
11 Hagenson worked closely with the City of Des Plaines to
12 procure a building to house the Self-Help Closet & Pantry,
13 guided the interior remodeling, coordinated the move,
14 encouraged the volunteers, and kept the organization open and
15 functioning throughout its transition; and
16 WHEREAS, Joan Hagenson was never too busy to assist a
17 group with its food or clothing drives or to be on hand to
18 welcome scouts or classes of students whenever they came to
19 visit; and
20 WHEREAS, Joan Hagenson gave more to the Self-Help Closet
21 & Pantry than her part-time position and stipend warranted;
22 she was a woman of great compassion and tremendous energy,
23 and she will be sorely missed by her family, associates, and
24 many friends; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
26 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
27 all who knew her, the death of Joan Hagenson of Des Plaines,
28 Illinois; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to the family of Joan Hagenson with our sincere
