1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Frederick W. "Coach" Brenzel, Jr., who passed away on
5 November 14, 2001; and
6 WHEREAS, Frederick W. Brenzel, Jr. was born on August 6,
7 1926 in Staunton, Illinois to Frederick "Alabam" and Anna
8 Zang Brenzel; he married Wanda Wilson in 1947 in Clarksville,
9 Tennessee; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Brenzel, a graduate of Southern Illinois
11 University at Carbondale, was a teacher and coach at Staunton
12 High School; he also taught in Auburn, Edwardsville, and
13 Litchfield; and
14 WHEREAS, Mt. Brenzel was a veteran of the United States
15 Navy; in addition, he played minor league baseball in the St.
16 Louis Browns organization and was a baseball coach in
17 Nicaragua for three years; and
18 WHEREAS, Mr. Brenzel was a member of St. Michael's
19 Catholic Church in Staunton, the Illinois Football Hall of
20 Fame, Staunton Knights of Columbus 2197, and Staunton VFW
21 Post 1241, a life member of the Staunton Optimists Club, and
22 a guidance counselor for handicapped children at Southern
23 Illinois University at Carbondale; and
24 WHEREAS, The passing of Frederick W. Brenzel, Jr. will be
25 deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his
26 wife, Wanda Brenzel; his daughters, Janet (husband, Kirk)
27 Kramer, Susan McBride, and Sherry (husband, Mike) Pirok; his
28 son, Fred J. (wife, Lisa) Brenzel; his grandchildren; his
29 great-grandchildren; his half sister, Anne Schaefer; and his
30 several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
31 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL

1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
2 all who knew him, the death of Frederick W. Brenzel, Jr. of
3 Staunton, Illinois; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of Frederick W. Brenzel, Jr. with our
6 sincere condolences.
