1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Robert B. Wheelwright, who passed away on November 27,
5 2001; and
6 WHEREAS, Robert Wheelwright was born on February 11, 1933
7 in Springfield, Illinois to Arthur K. and Dorothy J.
8 Wheelwright; he was a graduate of Springfield High School and
9 Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois; and
10 WHEREAS, During Mr. Wheelwright's computer and data
11 processing career he worked for General Electric, Illinois
12 Power Co. in Decatur, Illinois, both the Department of Public
13 Aid and the Interstate Commerce Commission in Springfield,
14 and Datapoint Corporation in San Antonio, Texas; he also
15 served as an instructor at Lincoln Land Community College in
16 Springfield; and
17 WHEREAS, Mr. Wheelwright served as President of the
18 Winthrop Harbor Chamber of Commerce; he also spearheaded the
19 establishment of the Winthrop Harbor Veterans Memorial near
20 the Schlader Building and worked with many others to beautify
21 and improve the train station and park around it; he was
22 honored in 1999 as "Citizen of the Year" by the Village of
23 Winthrop Harbor for his service to the Village; and
24 WHEREAS, Mr. Wheelwright was a member of the Winthrop
25 Harbor Lions Club and the American Legion, was a life member
26 of the V.F.W., and he served his country in the United States
27 Air Force during the Korean War; and
28 WHEREAS, The passing of Robert B. Wheelwright will be
29 deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his
30 wife, Jeanne Johnson Wheelwright; his daughters, Lisa (Tony)
31 Gascoigne, Lori (Michael) Roate, and Carol (Rodger) Robbins;

1 his granddaughters, Tiffany Schmidt and Jane Gascoigne; his
2 grandsons, Michael Gascoigne, Lucas Roate, and Adam Robbins;
3 his cousin, Dena Dee (Trent) Cooper; his dear friends, George
4 and Gen Foster, Dale and Judy Colson, Marc and Mary Royce,
5 and Jule Johnson; and his many other friends; therefore, be
6 it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9 all who knew him, the death of Robert B. Wheelwright of
10 Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; and be it further
11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the family of Robert B. Wheelwright with our
13 sincere condolences.
