1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of John Edward "Jack" Cullerton, who passed away on November
5 17, 2001; and
6 WHEREAS, John Edward Cullerton was the beloved husband of
7 the late Ann Cullerton; and
8 WHEREAS, A Chicago native who served in the Pacific
9 Theatre in World War II, Mr. Cullerton's lifelong concern for
10 the welfare of working people was manifested by an
11 accomplished career in labor relations that spanned seven
12 decades, including his service as Illinois Director of Labor
13 from 1963 through 1969, as a member of the Illinois Trade
14 Missions to the Soviet Union in 1989 and Poland and Hungary
15 in 1990 and 16 years with Hilton Hotels Corporation, where he
16 was named Executive of the Year in 1976; he most recently
17 served as Director of International Affairs for the Hotel
18 Employees & Restaurant Employees International Union, AFL-CIO
19 and as Chairman of the Central Pension Fund of the
20 International Union of Operating Engineers; and
21 WHEREAS, The passing of John Edward Cullerton will be
22 deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his
23 son, Jeffrey Hill (Katherine) Cullerton; his grandson, Thomas
24 Edward Cullerton; his great-grandson, Riley John
25 Arnos-Cullerton; and by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews,
26 and countless friends; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
29 all who knew him, the death of John Edward Cullerton of
30 Chicago, Illinois; and be it further
31 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

2 sincere condolences.
