1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Nickolaus Moisa, who passed away on October 29, 2001; and
5 WHEREAS, Nickolaus Moisa was born on June 7, 1922 in
6 Aurora, Illinois to Nickolaus and Florence Moisa; and
7 WHEREAS, Mr. Moisa served his country for five years in
8 the United States Navy during World War II; he was on the
9 deck of the U.S.S. Nevada during the Japanese attack on Pearl
10 Harbor; and
11 WHEREAS, Mr. Moisa worked to honor those who had fought
12 to keep America free; he was instrumental in erecting the
13 eternal flame memorial monument in Yorkville's Town Square
14 Park and he served as both the Senior Vice Commander and the
15 Memorial Chairman of the Perpetual Flame of Freedom Memorial;
16 he was a founder and lifetime member of the Illinois Chapter
17 #1 of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association; and he was a
18 lifetime member and Past Commander of the Yorkville American
19 Legion Post #489 and the Yorkville V.F.W.; and
20 WHEREAS, Mr. Moisa was the former owner and operator of
21 the Pine Village Steak House and the Vat & Vine Liquors;
22 after his retirement, he served as a bailiff at the Kendall
23 County Courthouse; and he was a member of St. Patrick's
24 Catholic Church in Yorkville; and
25 WHEREAS, The passing of Nickolaus Moisa will be deeply
26 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his children
27 Sandra (Robert) Whiteis and Nicholas T. (Barbara) Moisa; his
28 grandchildren Stacy (Carl) Baca, Zachary Whiteis, Katie
29 Moisa, and Tyler Moisa; his great-grandchildren Charlie and
30 Leo Baca; his twin sister Mary (Bella) Aros; and his nieces
31 and nephews, as well as his many friends; therefore be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
3 all who knew him, the death of Nickolaus Moisa of Yorkville,
4 Illinois; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the family of Nickolaus Moisa with our sincere
7 condolences.
