1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Earl W. Lewis; who recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Earl W. Lewis, a longtime Mount Prospect
6 resident, worked as the district manager for United States
7 Representative Phil Crane for 15 years, retiring in 1986;
8 during that time he essentially ran the Congressman's
9 District 8 office, drove him to appearances, and even gave
10 him a basement couch to sleep on once in awhile; and
11 WHEREAS, After his retirement, Earl W. Lewis continued to
12 volunteer his time to help out Congressman Crane; and
13 WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Lewis left his mark on local
14 matters; as an avid golfer, he was part of a small group of
15 residents who lobbied in the early 1960s for passage of a
16 referendum that allowed the Mount Prospect Park District to
17 purchase the former Mount Prospect Country Club golf course;
18 and
19 WHEREAS, Earl W. Lewis served as a trustee on the Mount
20 Prospect village board from 1967 to 1969; and
21 WHEREAS, The passing of Earl W. Lewis will be deeply felt
22 by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Edith
23 "Pete" Lewis; his son, John T. Lewis; his daughter, Marilyn
24 Cuca; his sister; his three grandchildren; his two great
25 grandchildren; Congressman Phil Crane; and the staff at
26 Congressman Crane's District 8 office; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
29 all who knew him, the death of Earl W. Lewis of Mount
30 Prospect, Illinois; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Earl W. Lewis with our sincere
3 condolences.
