1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Margaret B. Kaiser, who passed away on July 18, 2001; and
5 WHEREAS, Mrs. Kaiser was a graduate of Northwestern
6 University where she served as president of the Class of
7 1922; she was married to the late Paul W. Kaiser and moved to
8 Waukegan in 1926; and
9 WHEREAS, Mrs. Kaiser devoted her life to enhancing the
10 social, recreational, and educational opportunities for women
11 and girls in the community; she was a long time member of the
12 governing board and past president of the local YWCA; and
13 WHEREAS, In 1928, Mrs. Kaiser was one of the co-founders
14 of the Waukegan chapter of the American Association of
15 University Women; during her 56-year membership in the
16 Waukegan Women's Club, she served as an officer and chaired
17 several committees; and
18 WHEREAS, Mrs. Kaiser was also a member of the First
19 United Methodist Church; she earned the distinction of being
20 one of three lay women in the United States to be appointed
21 by the YMCA to its national Hi=Y Committee for boys and
22 girls; she was also the recipient of a humanitarian award by
23 the Grove School for services to developmentally disabled
24 children; and
25 WHEREAS, During World War II, Margaret Kaiser served on
26 the local operating committee of the USO; and
27 WHEREAS, The passing of Margaret B. Kaiser will be deeply
28 felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her daughter,
29 Nancy K. (husband, Jackson) Horton; her son, Paul W. (wife,
30 Betty) Kaiser; her six grandchildren; and her thirteen great
31 grandchildren, therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
3 all who knew her, the death of Margaret B. Kaiser of
4 Waukegan, Illinois; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the family of Margaret B. Kaiser with our
7 sincere condolences.
