1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of the Reverend John M. Crosby, who recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Father Crosby was born on January 16, 1927 in
6 Oak Park, Illinois; he was ordained a priest for the
7 Archdiocese of Chicago on May 1, 1952; and
8 WHEREAS, Father Crosby was a 1952 graduate of St. Mary of
9 the Lake Seminary in Mundelein where class members still
10 remain in close contact largely due to the efforts of Father
11 Crosby; and
12 WHEREAS, After his ordination, Father Crosby's
13 assignments included St. Athanasius' Parish in Evanston, St.
14 Andrew's Parish in Chicago, St. Mary's Parish in Riverside,
15 St. Odilo's Parish in Berwyn, and at St. Alexander's Parish
16 in Palos Heights where he retired as pastor emeritus on
17 February 2, 1997 after 20 years of service; and
18 WHEREAS, After his retirement, Father Crosby continued
19 his work as a parish priest at various parishes on the
20 Southwest Side and saying masses on weekdays and Sundays; and
21 WHEREAS, The passing of Reverend John M. Crosby will be
22 deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his
23 dear friends, Bishop John Gorman and the Reverend John A.
24 Kuzinskas; his many cousins; and the many parishioners around
25 the Chicago area who will miss his humor and gentle nature
26 that he had brought to their lives; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
29 all who knew him, the death of the Reverend John M. Crosby of
30 Palos Heights, Illinois; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family and friends of the Reverend John M.
3 Crosby.
