1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Don B. Pioletti, Sr., who passed away on May 27, 2001; and
5 WHEREAS, Don B. Pioletti, Sr. was born on May 19, 1912,
6 in Roanoke to Joseph and Marie Cerva Pioletti; he married
7 Erma M. White on November 26, 1940 in Peoria; and
8 WHEREAS, Don Pioletti, Sr. was a 1935 graduate of Eureka
9 College and a 1938 graduate of John Marshall Law School; he
10 received the distinguished alumni citation from John Marshall
11 Law School in 1971, and served on the Eureka College alumni
12 board and was chairman of the fund-raising committee; and
13 WHEREAS, Don Pioletti, Sr. served as first lieutenant in
14 the United States Army and served as a judge advocate; and
15 WHEREAS, Don Pioletti, Sr. was the founding partner in
16 Pioletti and Pioletti law firm and practiced law from 1938 to
17 1998; he was a master and chancery for Woodford County from
18 1941 to 1943 and served as Woodford County administrator; he
19 was county and associate circuit judge from 1946 to 1966 and
20 served as the city attorney for Eureka and Roanoke for many
21 years; in addition, he served as a director of Goodfield
22 State Bank and served as its president for more than 25
23 years; and
24 WHEREAS, Don Pioletti, Sr. was a former president of
25 Eureka Community Club and served on the advisory board of
26 Eureka Community Hospital; he served on the four-man
27 committee that gave Eureka All-American City status and was
28 director of the Woodford County Historical Society; he also
29 served as chairman of the Eureka Pumpkin festival; and
30 WHEREAS, Don Pioletti, Sr. received the Eureka College
31 Alumni Board of Merit award in 1986 and was a member of Tau

1 Kappa Epsilon; he was a charter member of Eureka Rotary and a
2 member of the Izaak Walton League; he also served as chairman
3 of the Creve Coeur Council of Boy Scouts; and
4 WHEREAS, Don Pioletti, Sr. was a member and trustee for
5 St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Washington for ten years and
6 also sang in its choir; he also served as a member of St.
7 Luke's Catholic Church in Eureka and Knights of Columbus
8 Fourth Degree Metamora Council; and
9 WHEREAS, The passing of Don B. Pioletti, Sr. will be
10 deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his
11 wife, Erma; his sons, Don Jr. (wife, Camillia), Dan, and
12 Douglas (wife, Annette); his four grandchildren; and his
13 sisters, Marion Newman and Lillian (husband, Charles)
14 Meginnes; therefore, be it
15 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
16 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
17 all who knew him, the death of Don B. Pioletti, Sr. of
18 Eureka, Illinois; and be it further
19 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to the family of Don B. Pioletti, Sr. with our
21 sincere condolences.
