1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate wish to express their
3 sincere condolences to the family and friends of Ava Alois
4 Blandon, who passed away on May 6, 2001; and
5 WHEREAS, Ava Alois Blandon was born on November 13, 1954
6 to Hubert and Helen Hoosman, Sr.; as a child, she was an
7 active member of Wesley-Bethel United Methodists Church in
8 East St. Louis; and
9 WHEREAS, Ava Alois Blandon graduated from East Senior
10 High School in 1972; she graduated from St. Louis College of
11 Pharmacy in 1978; and
12 WHEREAS, Ava Alois Blandon began her career with
13 Christian North East Hospital of St. Louis where she
14 continued to work until her health would not allow her to do
15 her best; she took great pride in working part-time for many
16 pharmacies in the metro-east area where she served as an
17 emergency backup pharmacist; and
18 WHEREAS, Ava Alois Blandon married Kenneth C. Anthony in
19 1974 and had a son, Daniel Anthony; in 1996, she married
20 Phillip O. Blandon and embraced his son, Stephen, as her own;
21 and
22 WHEREAS, Ava Alois Blandon enjoyed being with her family
23 and friends; her greatest joy came from attending family
24 dinners, gatherings in her home, church fellowships, and
25 sports and fun outings for Daniel and his friends; and
26 WHEREAS, Ava Alois Blandon will be remembered by her
27 husband, Phillip O. Blandon; her two sons, Daniel Anthony and
28 Stephen Blandon; her prospective daughter-in-law, Katherine
29 Ruiz; her mother, Mrs Helen Hoosman; her mother-in-law, Mrs.
30 Thelma Blandon; her brothers, Hulas (wife, Linda) King,
31 Douglas (wife, Elva) King, Mitchell H. King, and Hubert

1 (wife, Latoya) Hoosman, Jr.; her sisters Barbara Hennings,
2 Rose Truewell, Mary Anne Reynolds, Dorene Hoosman, Anita
3 (husband, Charles) McDonald, Lee Ola (husband, Alan) Johnson,
4 and Gwendolyn (husband, Kyle) Jones; her sisters-in-law,
5 Sylvia (husband, Warren) Mitchell, Selina Brown, and Penny
6 Alexander; her great-aunt, Mrs. Alice G. Backstrom; her
7 special friend, Lana Vita; and many nieces, nephews, and
8 cousins; she will also be missed by her many friends and
9 co-workers in the Barnes-Jewish Christian Medical Corporation
10 and the members of the New Horizon Seventh Day Christian
11 Church; therefore, be it
12 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, That we mourn the death of
14 Ava Alois Blandon and extend our sincere sympathies to her
15 family and friends at this time; and be it further
16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Ava Alois Blandon.
