1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Joseph W. Brown, who passed away on December 17, 2000; and
5 WHEREAS, Joseph W. Brown was a New Jersey native who
6 moved to Chicago at the age of five; he graduated from
7 Highland Park High School in 1935 and attended the University
8 of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and
9 WHEREAS, Joseph W. Brown proudly served his country as a
10 navigator in the United States Air Force during World War II;
11 his plane was shot down in combat and he spent seventeen
12 months as a Prisoner of War in Barth, Germany; and
13 WHEREAS, Upon his return to the United States, Joseph W.
14 Brown began a career as a sales engineer; in addition he
15 owned a Chicago-area business that supplied additives for
16 automobiles from 1962 to 1971; he retired in 1989; and
17 WHEREAS, Joseph W. Brown was a resident of Deerfield for
18 more than fifty years; he participated in local government
19 and the Rotary Club; he served as a Deerfield trustee from
20 1985 to 1989; in 1990 he was named a Deerfield Park Board
21 Commissioner and assisted with plans for the proposed senior
22 center and improvement projects for the village's golf
23 course, a project that was especially important to him due to
24 his lifelong affection for golf; and
25 WHEREAS, The passing of Joseph W. Brown will be deeply
26 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife,
27 Cynthia; his daughters, Chris Gorrod, Deborah Brown, and Lynn
28 Vismara; his sons, Michael Brown and Joseph Brown; his
29 brother, Harold; his three grandsons; and his two
30 granddaughters; therefore, be it
31 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL

1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
2 all who knew him, the death of Joseph W. Brown of Deerfield,
3 Illinois; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of Joseph W. Brown with our sincere
6 condolences.
