1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Gladys Wright, who passed away on May 6, 2001; and
5 WHEREAS, Gladys Wright was born on September 15, 1916 in
6 Franklin, Kentucky to the late Monroe and Laura Temple; and
7 WHEREAS, Gladys Wright attended Knob City High School in
8 Russellville, Kentucky, where she met the late James Wright,
9 her husband of sixty-three years; and
10 WHEREAS, During her youth, Gladys Wright was a member of
11 the Pleasant View Baptist Church in Franklin, Kentucky; as a
12 young adult she served as a member of the West Chestnut
13 Street Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky, where she
14 served and assisted in many activities; recently she served
15 as a faithful member of St. John Church-Baptist in Chicago
16 and as an active leader in the 82nd and Langley Block Club;
17 in addition she was involved in all of her husband's
18 activities whether it related to the union, political or
19 community services; and
20 WHEREAS, Gladys Wright was a loving and supporting wife
21 and a devoted mother and grandmother who believed in a
22 Christian upbringing; she was also a kind friend to all she
23 encountered; and
24 WHEREAS, The passing of Gladys Wright will be deeply felt
25 by all who knew and loved her, especially her son, Lewis; her
26 brother, Bobby; her sister, Hazel; her five grandchildren;
27 her seven great grandchildren; her nieces; her nephews; her
28 cousins; and a host of friends; therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
31 all who knew her, the death of Gladys Wright of Chicago,

1 Illinois; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to the family of Gladys Wright with our sincere
4 condolences.
