1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Bruno R. Somenzi, who passed away on April 27, 2001; and
5 WHEREAS, Bruno R. Somenzi was born on September 17, 1917
6 in Oglesby, Illinois; he was a resident of Highland
7 Park/Highwood for the past eighty years; and
8 WHEREAS, Bruno R. Somenzi served in the United States
9 Army during World War II; and
10 WHEREAS, Bruno R. Somenzi was a pitcher for the Chicago
11 Cubs in the 1940s; he was also active with the Children's
12 PeeWee and Poney Leagues in Highland Park and Highwood; and
13 WHEREAS, Bruno R. Somenzi worked for the City of Highland
14 Park's Park District in the baseball field and in later years
15 worked for the Lake County Recorder's Office in the microfilm
16 department; and
17 WHEREAS, Bruno R. Somenzi was a member of the St. James
18 Church in Highwood, the Highwood American Legion Post 501,
19 and the Highwood Bocce Ball Club; and
20 WHEREAS, The passing of Bruno R. Somenzi will be deeply
21 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife,
22 Gilda; his children, Terry, Darre Shimizu, Candace (husband,
23 Richard) Schuettner, and Stefany (husband, Patrick) Early;
24 his six grandchildren; and his sister, Olga Potker;
25 therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
27 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
28 all who knew him, the death of Bruno R. Somenzi of Highland
29 Park, Illinois; and be it further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

2 condolences.
