1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Clifton Miller, who passed away on March 24, 2001; and
5 WHEREAS, Clifton Miller was born on December 30, 1920 in
6 Monica, Illinois to Clifton A. and Iva McDaniels Miller; he
7 was a World War II Navy veteran who served in the South
8 Pacific; and
9 WHEREAS, Clifton Miller was a 53-year member of the
10 International Union of Operating Engineers Local 649; Mr.
11 Miller worked as a heavy equipment operator for contractors
12 in the Peoria area; he also served for more than 50 years as
13 a seasonal Peoria County deputy sheriff; and
14 WHEREAS, Clifton Miller was a co-founder and life member
15 of the Peoria County Sheriff's Posse Mounted Patrol, in which
16 he retired with the rank of captain; he was also a co-founder
17 of the Mohammed Horse Patrol, an active member of the
18 Mohammed Shrine Antique Car Club, and a member of the Hanna
19 City Sportsman's Club; and
20 WHEREAS, Other memberships that Clifton Miller held
21 included being a member of Illinois Lodge 263, AF&AM,
22 Knight's Templar, and Mohammed Temple, Shrine; and
23 WHEREAS, The passing of Clifton Miller will be deeply
24 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife,
25 Deloris; his sons, Bill (wife, Barbara) Miller and Keith
26 (wife, Imogene) Miller; his stepsons, Bob (wife, Cathy)
27 Bowen, Larry Bowen, and Bruce Bowen; his sisters, Maxine
28 White and Veronica "Bobbi" Stilley; his 15 grandchildren; and
29 his 18 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
31 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with

1 all who knew him, the death of Clifton Miller of Edwards,
2 Illinois; and be it further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to the family of Clifton Miller with our sincere
5 condolences.
