1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of James B. "Jim" Upchurch, who passed away on February 4,
5 2001; and
6 WHEREAS, James B. Upchurch was born on July 17, 1934, in
7 Taylorville, Illinois, to Paul and Edna Alexander Upchurch;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Upchurch was a graduate of the University of
10 Illinois where he was a member of the Triangle Engineering
11 Fraternity of architects, scientists, and engineers; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Upchurch founded Upchurch and Associates in
13 1970 with offices in Mattoon, Hillside, and Decatur; and
14 WHEREAS, Mr. Upchurch was a member of the Scottish Rite
15 Valley of Springfield, Ansar Shrine of Springfield, and the
16 Cornbelt Shrine Club; he was a member and served on the
17 boards of numerous engineering, environmental, and surveying
18 organizations; he also was a member at St. John's Lutheran
19 Church; and
20 WHEREAS, The passing of James B. Upchurch will be deeply
21 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Sue;
22 his step-daughter, Lisa Williamson; his brother, George
23 (wife, Natalie) Upchurch; his sisters, Bea (husband, Alan)
24 Buchanan, and Joyce Ann (husband, Gerald) Miller; his
25 grandsons, Phillip and Vinny Upchurch and Derek Williamson;
26 and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
29 all who knew him, the death of James B. Upchurch of Mattoon,
30 Illinois; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of James B. Upchurch with out sincere
3 condolences.
