1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Elsie S. Jenks, who recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Elsie S. Jenks was born in Monmouth, Illinois on
6 January 28, 1914; her parents were Fred B. and Emma J. Drake
7 Smith; on November 28, 1935 she married Kenneth B. Jenks; and
8 WHEREAS, Elsie S. Jenks was a graduate of Monmouth High
9 School and Monmouth College; she was a school teacher for
10 several years in Henderson County, at Hale Center School in
11 Warren County, and at Yorkwood Grade School until her
12 retirement; after her retirement she continued to teach art
13 at the school as a volunteer; and
14 WHEREAS, Elsie S. Jenks worked with Young Authors program
15 in Monmouth School District 38; she received the Phi Delta
16 Kappa Excellence in Education Award in 1989 from the Western
17 Illinois University chapter; she was a member of Westminster
18 Presbyterian Church in Kirkwood, and a former member of
19 Fairview Center Church; and
20 WHEREAS, Elsie S. Jenks was a member and past officer in
21 the Warren County Republican Women, and was named Illinois
22 Republican Women's Woman of the Year in 1994; she was a
23 member and past officer of the Warren County Retired
24 Teachers; she was a member of the Warren County Sheriff's
25 Department Scholarship Committee, Chapter 277 of the Order of
26 the Eastern Star, and Rebekah Lodge 22; she and her husband
27 were leaders of the Hale Boosters 4-H Club; she was a
28 founding member of the Sleepy Eye Pottery Club and the Blue
29 and White Pottery Club; and
30 WHEREAS, The passing of Elsie S. Jenks will be felt by
31 all who knew her, especially her son, Fred C. Jenks; her

1 daughters, Caroline Ault and Lynne Denison; her sister, Mary
2 Faye Brownlee; her six granddaughters; her four
3 great-granddaughters; her nieces, nephews, and other
4 relatives; therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
7 of Elsie S. Jenks of Monmouth and extend our sincere thoughts
8 to her family and friends at this time; and be it further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Elsie S. Jenks.
