1 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 28
2 (As amended by Senate Amendment No. 1)
3 WHEREAS, The State Board of Education has filed its
4 Report on Waiver of School Code Mandates, dated April 30,
5 2001, with the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the
6 Secretary of State of Illinois as required by Section 2-3.25g
7 of the School Code; and
8 WHEREAS, We are disapproving school district requests for
9 waivers relating to substitute certificates because Senate
10 Bill 1293 and House Bill 2425 relate to substitute
11 certificates and have passed both houses of this General
12 Assembly; and
13 WHEREAS, Many members of the General Assembly recognize
14 the need to re-evaluate the State's student assessment
15 programs and the Senate will be conducting hearings regarding
16 this subject in the next few months, it is strongly
17 encouraged that the waiver request regarding Assessments -
18 Prairie State Achievement Examination be re-submitted for
19 consideration in the Fall 2001 waiver request; therefore, be
20 it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
22 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF
23 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that each of the school
24 district waiver requests identified below by school district
25 name and by the identifying number and subject area of the
26 waiver request as summarized in the report filed by the State
27 Board of Education is disapproved:
