 1        AN ACT concerning hospitals.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The  Hospital  Licensing  Act  is amended by
 5    adding Section 10.6 as follows:

 6        (210 ILCS 85/10.6 new)
 7        Sec. 10.6. Hospital merger; medical staff  bylaws.   When
 8    one  or  more  hospitals  combine or merge in any manner, the
 9    medical staff bylaws of each individual hospital shall remain
10    in effect until such time as the new entity and  the  medical
11    staff  can  mutually  agree upon medical staff bylaws for the
12    new entity. Medical staff bylaws for the new entity shall  be
13    adopted within 2 years.
