1 AN ACT concerning telecommunications.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding
5 Section 13-303 as follows:
6 (220 ILCS 5/13-303 new)
7 Sec. 13-303. Fraudulent or misleading practices.
8 (a) The Commission is authorized to hear complaints
9 regarding fraudulent or misleading practices allegedly
10 committed by a telecommunications carrier against its
11 customers. The Commission may order a telecommunications
12 carrier that commits a fraudulent or misleading practice
13 against its customers to refund to the customers any amounts
14 that the telecommunications carrier received as a result of
15 the fraudulent or misleading practice.
16 (b) The Commission must promulgate any rules necessary
17 to implement this Section.
18 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
19 becoming law.
