 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives would like to recognize Lyle Shields of Dewey
 4    for his many years of exemplary public service; and

 5        WHEREAS,  His  long  and  distinguished record of service
 6    includes nine years on the Mounts School Board, including six
 7    years as President; 41 years on the Champaign  County  Board,
 8    including  ten years as Chairman; 36 years as Condit Township
 9    Supervisor; 40 years as a volunteer fireman with the Sangamon
10    Valley Fire Protection District; 11 years  on  the  Board  of
11    Directors  of the National Association of Counties; two years
12    as President of United Counties Council of Illinois;  and  30
13    years as Republican Precinct Committeeman; and

14        WHEREAS,  Mr. Shields, who farms part-time with his sons,
15    is retiring from the Champaign County Board, which will  give
16    him  more time to see old friends and more time to spend with
17    his family, including his  wife,  Lois;  his  four  children,
18    Gene,  Sandi,  Vicki,  and  Jim;  and his five grandchildren;
19    therefore, be it

20        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
21    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22    we  congratulate  Lyle  Shields  for his strong commitment to
23    civic duty  and  his  many  years  of  dedication  to  public
24    service,  and  we  extend  our  best  wishes  for a happy and
25    fulfilling retirement and continued  success  in  his  future
26    endeavors; and be it further

27        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
28    presented to Lyle Shields with our regards.
