1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are happy to recognize the excellence of
4 young athletes and wish to congratulate the Sacred
5 Heart-Griffin Boys Soccer Team on winning the IHSA Class A
6 State Tournament at North Central College in Naperville on
7 November 2, 2002; and
8 WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Head Coach Sam Tate and
9 Assistant Coaches Mike Lindsey and Chris Davis, the team
10 ended the season with an impressive 27-2-1 record, including
11 22 shutouts which ties the State record; and
12 WHEREAS, The members of the team include Douglas Drendel,
13 Corey Farrar, Sean Flynn, Andrew Hamilton, Michael Hoffmann,
14 Tyler Hoffmeister, Gregory Irwin, Zachary Jones, Jack
15 Kienzler, Patrick Kojima, Jacob Kress, Andrew Lantz, Drew
16 Lewis, Christopher Loftus, Tyler Pape, Nathan Sabich, Charles
17 Sales, William Sheehan, John Steward, and John Vaughn; and
18 WHEREAS, The team advanced to the State Tournament by
19 winning the Sacred Heart-Griffin Regional and the
20 Jacksonville Sectional; at the State Tournament the team
21 defeated Sycamore High School, Notre Dame High School of
22 Peoria, and Providence Catholic High School of New Lenox; and
23 WHEREAS, The faculty, staff, and students of Sacred
24 Heart-Griffin High School and the entire community can be
25 justly proud of the ability and dedication of these students
26 and their coaches; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we congratulate the members of the Sacred Heart-Griffin Boys
30 Soccer Team and their coaches on their impressive performance
31 that led them to become the IHSA Class A State Champions and

1 that we extend our sincere wishes for continued success in
2 all their future endeavors; and be it further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to school President Sister Marilyn Jean Runkel,
5 Coach Tate, Coach Lindsey, Coach Davis, and each member of
6 the team as an expression of our esteem.
