1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express their sincerest condolences
4 to the family and friends of Vernon Eugene Harrell, Sr., who
5 recently passed away; and
6 WHEREAS, Vernon Eugene Harrell, Sr. was born on June 3,
7 1924 in Humboldt, Tennessee to Sylvester and Flora Harrell;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Harrell received his education in Humboldt,
10 Tennessee; he went on to serve his country in World War II
11 from 1943 to 1946, receiving several medals of honor; and
12 WHEREAS, Vernon Eugene Harrell, Sr. was joined in
13 matrimony with Eileen Freeman on February 15, 1950; together
14 they were blessed to raise six children; and
15 WHEREAS, Mr. Harrell was employed at Pinkert Steel from
16 1965 until his retirement in 1990; and
17 WHEREAS, Mr. Harrell accepted Christ at an early age and
18 during his illness he rededicated his life to Christ; and
19 WHEREAS, The passing of Vernon Eugene Harrell, Sr. will
20 be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his
21 wife, Eileen; his sister, Mary Fly; his children, Vernon Jr.,
22 Valerie (husband, Loren), Vernona (husband, Ronald), Kenneth
23 (wife, Faye), Lynette (husband, Louis), and David (wife,
24 Denitra); his eight grandchildren; his seven
25 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
26 and friends; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we mourn, along with all who knew him, the death of Vernon
30 Eugene Harrell, Sr.; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Vernon Eugene Harrell, Sr. with
3 our sincere condolences.
