1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The House of Representatives is pleased to
3 acknowledge milestones in the lives of the citizens of the
4 State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, On September 24, 2002, Mike Roberts, President
6 of McDonald's USA, will be named the Illinois Retail
7 Merchants Association's 2002 Retailer of the Year; and
8 WHEREAS, Mike Roberts is responsible for more than 12,800
9 McDonald's restaurants in the United States; he began his
10 career with McDonald's in 1977 working as a regional
11 purchasing manager; he has also served as an advisory
12 director to McDonald's board of directors and as a board
13 member to several children's charitable organizations; Most
14 recently, Mike Roberts served as president of the West
15 Division for McDonald's USA; and
16 WHEREAS, Mike Roberts has been at the forefront of many
17 of the programs highlighted in McDonald's first worldwide
18 Social Responsibility Report; and
19 WHEREAS, Mike Roberts has also played a key role in
20 environmental responsibility programs while serving as
21 McDonald's Vice President of Environmental Affairs in 1990,
22 including the McRecycle USA program, one of the first
23 corporate "buy recycled" initiatives; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
26 we congratulate Mike Roberts, President of McDonald's USA, on
27 being named 2002 Retailer of the Year by the Illinois Retail
28 Merchants Association; and
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to Mike Roberts with our esteem.
