1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are proud to congratulate Odilio Gonzalez,
4 "El Jibarito De Lares", of New York City for his success as a
5 talented vocal musician; and
6 WHEREAS, Odilio Gonzalez began his life like the
7 "Autoctono Singers" from the Island of Enchantment; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzalez responded to a contract request and
9 brought his fine talents to the city of New York, where he
10 recorded his first album, "Trovador Jibaro"; and
11 WHEREAS, His desires pushed him to further pursue his
12 career in music, and using the success of his first album as
13 motivation, Mr. Gonzalez sought out greater opportunities;
14 the B.M.C. Record Corporation offered him a contract which
15 ultimately brought fame and fortune to Odilio Gonzalez; and
16 WHEREAS, Odilio Gonzalez's soft, full voice has made him
17 stand out as a "Bolerista Sensacional"; his vocal style is
18 described as a "Buen Jibaro Puertorriqueno" and has touched
19 not only the Hispanic community in New York, but also the
20 entire Latin-American world; and
21 WHEREAS, Some of Odilio Gonzalez's major hits include
22 "Eres Todo Para Mi", "Penitencia", "Mercedita", "Hablame",
23 "Una Tercera Persona", and "La Mano De Dios", among others;
24 therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate Odilio Gonzalez on his outstanding musical
28 career and wish him all the best in the future; and be it
29 further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
