1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, On June 28, 1952, a date that for the last fifty
3 years has been celebrated in knowledgeable circles as an
4 event worthy of grand consideration, at St. Francis Xavier
5 Church in Chicago, Illinois, Albert Green, a former World War
6 II Army Air Corps pilot, was united in holy matrimony with
7 Virginia Bucko; and
8 WHEREAS, For sixteen years of that marriage, from 1960
9 through 1976, this celebration had been somewhat subdued due
10 to the nature of Albert Green's employment, to wit, that of
11 being legislative coordinator of Cook County, a job which had
12 occasionally required "Home Rule" Al's presence in
13 Springfield on June 28th; and
14 WHEREAS, For twenty-five years thereafter, from 1976
15 through 2001, Al continued his dedication to the people of
16 the State of Illinois as a Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook
17 County, including as the longest serving member of the
18 Chancery Division, as the Presiding Judge of that Division
19 (2000 through 2001), and as a great mentor to many throughout
20 the State; and
21 WHEREAS, As an active member of the Illinois Judges
22 Association during his judicial tenure, Al improved the legal
23 and judicial communities by serving in a variety of advisory
24 capacities, including as a member of the Judicial Conference
25 of Illinois, on the Legislative Committee of the Illinois
26 Supreme Court, and on Commissions appointed by the General
27 Assembly; and
28 WHEREAS, Virginia Bucko Green, Al's wife and an
29 accomplished attorney in her own right, has shown a
30 remarkable amount of tolerance through these fifty years in
31 having to share Al with Cook County, the Illinois General
32 Assembly, and the people of the State of Illinois, while Al

1 has always shown as much, if not more, diligence in the
2 support of his wife and family as that of his work; and
3 WHEREAS, Gini and Al have been blessed in their marriage
4 with five loving children, Valerie, Michael, Gregory,
5 Jonathan, and the late Vanessa, a wonderful grandchild,
6 Timothy, and lovely daughters-in-law Valerie and Monica;
7 therefore, be it
8 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10 we offer our hearty congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Albert
11 Green on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and
12 sincerely wish them many more; and be it further
13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to Mr. and Mrs. Al Green.
