1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express our sincere condolences to
4 the family and friends of Dorothy Louise Norris, who passed
5 away on January 23, 2002; and
6 WHEREAS, Dorothy Louise Norris was born on June 12, 1909
7 in Jasper County to the late Joe and Susie Spell; early in
8 life she was united in holy matrimony to Mathan Crosby, where
9 one son was born; later in life, she was united in holy
10 matrimony to Roy Norris and to this union five children were
11 born; and
12 WHEREAS, During her childhood years, Mrs. Norris was a
13 member of Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church; she attended
14 school in the Jasper County School System and graduated with
15 honors; in a course of time, she was united with First
16 Baptist Church and later united with Bethlehem United
17 Methodist Church in Bay Springs, Mississippi, where she was a
18 faithful member; and
19 WHEREAS, Mrs. Norris was well known as an active person
20 throughout the community and church; she was a member of the
21 Heroines of Jericho, a Sunday School Leader, and a tutor; her
22 hobbies and love of life included working, fishing, and
23 cooking, and she had her own cafe in Bay Springs,
24 Mississippi, during the early 1950s; and
25 WHEREAS, The passing of Dorothy Louise Norris will be
26 deeply felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her
27 sister, Susie M. Crosby; her children, Jose La Crosby,
28 Barbara Norris-Bender, Fran (Andrew) Norris-Thompson, Johnnie
29 M. (Mary Ann) Norris, Percy J. (Miltilda) Norris, and Rosie
30 L. Norris; her 14 grandchildren; her 30 great-grandchildren;
31 her 2 great-great grandchildren; her 5 godchildren; and a
32 host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving friends, and church

1 members; therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4 we mourn, along with all who knew her, the death of Dorothy
5 Louise Norris; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to the family of Dorothy Louise Norris with our
8 sincere condolences.
