1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to
4 the family and friends of Harold A. Townsend, who passed away
5 on November 22, 2001; and
6 WHEREAS, Harold A. Townsend was born on May 28, 1931 in
7 East St. Louis, Illinois, to Marcella DeSheilds and General
8 Townsend; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Townsend served in the United States Marine
10 Corps from 1952 to 1954, serving time in both Vietnam and
11 Korea; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Townsend moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1959,
13 where he held various jobs including the position of lead
14 supervisor at the Quaker Oats Company; and
15 WHEREAS, Harold Townsend was a caring and compassionate
16 person who was deeply loved by all who knew him; he will be
17 deeply missed by his wife, Laura Gamble; his daughter, Anisha
18 Gamble-Townsend; his step-son, Lamar Gamble; his sisters,
19 Clementine Rice, Louise Clark, and ElCindy Nord; his brother
20 and sister-in-laws; his close friends; and his nephew, the
21 Reverend Dr. Scott Clark, Jr., who presided over his funeral;
22 therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25 we mourn, along with all who knew him, the death of Harold A.
26 Townsend, formerly of East St. Louis, Illinois; and be it
27 further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to the family of Harold A. Townsend with our
30 sincere condolences.
