1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representative has learned
3 with great pride that March 5, 2002 will mark the 100th
4 Anniversary of one of the most recognizable consumer
5 organizations in the nation; and
6 WHEREAS, After being founded as the Chicago Auto Club by
7 a group of farsighted leaders from various touring and motor
8 car clubs, the AAA Chicago Motor Club has grown to a national
9 organization with 44,000,000 members; and
10 WHEREAS, While now a modern, full service organization,
11 this federation initially worked to improve horse paths to
12 accommodate automobiles and fought for the passage of the
13 Federal Registration Bill to eliminate State barriers to
14 interstate travel; and
15 WHEREAS, During the 100 years of service, the number of
16 motorists who received jump starts, flats fixed or lock out
17 assistance now totals more than 30,000,000 million; and
18 WHEREAS Many national programs like the School Safety
19 Patrols, the Fuel Gauge Report, drivers' education and the
20 Diamond Rating Service were pioneered and promoted by this
21 organization during the past century; therefore, be it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
23 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
24 we extend congratulations to the AAA Chicago Motor Club for
25 the outstanding service that has been provided in Illinois
26 and beyond and best wishes for continued success as it begins
27 its second century of service; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to the AAA Chicago Motor Club as an expression of
30 our esteem.
