1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to
4 the family and friends of Annette R. Schroeder, who passed
5 away on January 20, 2002; and
6 WHEREAS, Annette R. Schroeder, an accountant and longtime
7 community activist in the Edgewater community, on Chicago's
8 North Side, had the energy and courage to put up with
9 bureaucracy and the know-how to wade through it; and she
10 devoted herself to improving the quality of life for those in
11 her community; and
12 WHEREAS, Described by friends, family and co-workers as a
13 dynamic one-woman force, Ms. Schroeder grew up in Missouri
14 and Chicago before attending Roosevelt University, where she
15 earned a degree in accounting; and
16 WHEREAS, Ms. Schroeder was employed by corporations and
17 government but spent most of her free time during the past
18 three decades working in the Edgewater community tackling the
19 problems of gangs, bad landlords, and drug dealers; and
20 WHEREAS, Before working in Edgewater, Ms. Schroeder was
21 an assistant to her friend and mentor the late Kathy
22 Osterman, who headed special events for the City of Chicago;
23 in addition, she was controller and office manager for
24 Graziano, Krafft & Zale, a Chicago ad agency, and a member
25 and past president of the Edgewater Community Council; and
26 WHEREAS, Ms. Schroeder was known for her quick wit and
27 sharp tongue, and those who knew her best said that she had a
28 heart of gold; and
29 WHEREAS, The passing of Annette Schroeder will be deeply
30 felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her sisters,
31 Nancy Schroeder Ebert and Jeanne Hayden, her brother, Thomas

1 Schroeder, and her many friends and colleagues; therefore, be
2 it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5 we mourn, along with all who knew her, the death of Annette
6 R. Schroeder of Chicago, Illinois; and be it further
7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to the family of Annette R. Schroeder with our
9 sincere condolences.
