1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in
4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Commander
6 Maurice D. Ford is retiring from his duties as District
7 Commander of the 7th District of the Chicago Police
8 Department; and
9 WHEREAS, Commander Ford is a product of the Chicago
10 Public School System, where he attended and graduated from
11 Corpus Christi Elementary School and Hyde Park High School;
12 he received his associate's degree from Wright Junior College
13 and his bachelor's degree from Roosevelt University; and
14 WHEREAS, Commander Ford served his country in the United
15 States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1968; and
16 WHEREAS, Commander Ford's distinguished law enforcement
17 career began in 1965 as he entered the Police Academy and was
18 certified as a Chicago Police Officer on June 14, 1965; he
19 was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1981, Lieutenant in
20 1991, and was assigned as a Tactical Lieutenant in the 7th
21 District in Englewood; in July 1998, he was rewarded by
22 Superintendent Terry Hillard and promoted to District
23 Commander of the 7th District; and
24 WHEREAS, Commander Ford has been assigned to various
25 specialized units in the Chicago Police Department throughout
26 his career, including gang intelligence, the intelligence
27 division, and the internal affairs unit; and
28 WHEREAS, Commander Ford is supported by his loving and
29 very proud family, who includes his wife of 42 years, Jane,
30 who is a retired Chicago School Teacher; therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3 we congratulate Commander Maurice D. Ford on his retirement
4 as District Commander of the 7th District of the Chicago
5 Police Department; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Commander Maurice D. Ford as an expression of
8 our esteem.
