1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to recognize notable achievements of
4 citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Douglas E.
6 Weber is resigning from his position as President and CEO of
7 the United Way of Lake County in Green Oaks, Illinois; and
8 WHEREAS, For more than sixteen years, Mr. Weber has
9 served as President and CEO for local United Way
10 organizations; since May 1995, he has served as President and
11 CEO for United Way of the Lake County in Green Oaks,
12 Illinois, successfully raising over $11.2 million in annual
13 contributions; in addition, he was instrumental in the
14 development of a new endowment program called the "Forever
15 Fund" over the past two years, which has accumulated over
16 $3.8 million in assets and expected gifts; and
17 WHEREAS, Prior to coming to Illinois, Mr. Weber served as
18 President and CEO for the United Way of Metrowest in
19 Framingham, Massachusetts and as President and CEO for the
20 United Way of Chemung & Steuben Counties in upstate New York,
21 where he led the merger of four local United Way
22 organizations; he also served as a professional with the Boy
23 Scouts of America for eight years in Indiana and
24 Massachusetts; and
25 WHEREAS, Mr. Weber holds a bachelor's degree in Human
26 Relations from the University of Indianapolis, where he was
27 sponsored by the American Humanities Foundation in their
28 Non-Profit Management program, and a master's degree in
29 Non-Profit Management from Lesley College in Cambridge,
30 Massachusetts majoring in Fundraising Management; and
31 WHEREAS, Mr. Weber is involved in numerous community and

1 professional associations, including his service on the Lake
2 County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Lake
3 County Work Force Investment Board, the Lake County Partners
4 Economic Development Organization, and as a member of the
5 Libertyville Sunrise Rotary; he is also a member of the
6 National Professional Council of United Way of America, the
7 national association of Local United Way Organizations, and
8 is an instructor for their Learning Opportunities Program;
9 and
10 WHEREAS, Douglas Weber and his wife, Nancy, reside in
11 Waukegan, Illinois; they are the proud parents of two
12 daughters, Stephanie and Katie; therefore, be it
13 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15 we congratulate Douglas E. Weber for his 16 years of
16 dedication and service to the United Way and we wish him well
17 in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
18 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to Douglas E. Weber as an expression of our esteem.
