1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Jim Anderson on his
4 retirement from SBC/Ameritech; and
5 WHEREAS, In June of 1967, immediately after graduating
6 from Bradley University with a Bachelor's in Business
7 Administration, Jim Anderson was employed by a company called
8 Illinois Bell; and
9 WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Jim Anderson held a
10 variety of assignments with the company in Peoria, Kankakee,
11 Mt. Vernon, Alton, and, eventually, Springfield; and
12 WHEREAS, In June of 1983, Jim Anderson accepted the
13 challenge of lobbying for Illinois Bell, which was later
14 called Ameritech Illinois, and which is now called
15 SBC/Ameritech; and
16 WHEREAS, Throughout his more than 34-year career with the
17 company, Jim Anderson spent nearly two decades as a
18 statehouse lobbyist; during that time, Jim Anderson became
19 well known by all members of the General Assembly and also
20 developed life-time, personal friendships with many members
21 and staff; and
22 WHEREAS, As a proprietor of a historic and popular
23 Springfield establishment, Jim Anderson was a convivial host
24 to many members of this General Assembly and staff; and
25 WHEREAS, As a well-respected member of the Third House,
26 Jim Anderson has made a name for himself and the members of
27 this General Assembly are convinced that no other lobbyist
28 for Ameritech could ever take his place; and
29 WHEREAS, Jim Anderson has two sons, one of whom has
30 chosen to follow in his footsteps and lobby in these great

1 halls; and
2 WHEREAS, Jim Anderson's retirement follows on the heels
3 of another veteran Springfield lobbyist, his wife, Shirley;
4 therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7 we do hereby congratulate Jim Anderson for his long and
8 distinguished career with Ameritech; and be it further
9 RESOLVED, That we wish Jim Anderson a long and happy
10 career as a contract lobbyist so that we can continue to see
11 our dear friend; and be it further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to Jim Anderson.
