1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to
4 the family and friends of Howard M. Burgh, Sr., who passed
5 away on June 28, 2001; and
6 WHEREAS, Howard M. Burgh, Sr. was born in 1921 and raised
7 on Chicago's West Side; he was a 1939 1/2 graduate of Austin
8 High School; and
9 WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Howard M.
10 Burgh, Sr. enlisted in the United States Army and served in
11 the North Apennines campaign in Italy during World War II; he
12 was awarded two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart for his
13 exemplary conduct in ground combat; and
14 WHEREAS, Howard M. Burgh, Sr. married Irene Boller in
15 1947 and together raised a family of six children in
16 Westchester, Illinois; and
17 WHEREAS, In 1940, Howard M. Burgh, Sr. started work for a
18 fluid power company in Chicago as a salesman; in 1954 he and
19 a co-worker founded Flow Products, Inc. on the near Northside
20 of Chicago in the 47th Ward, a company of 40 employees
21 devoted to the promotion of fluid power; he served as
22 president of Flow Products, Inc. from 1954 until his death;
23 and
24 WHEREAS, Howard M. Burgh, Sr. served as a member of the
25 Young Presidents Organization, as charter member of the Fluid
26 Power Distributors Association, as a lifetime trustee of
27 Fenwick High School in Oak Park, as member of the Holy Name
28 Father's Club and Divine Infant Parish, and as a commander of
29 the American Legion; and
30 WHEREAS, The passing of Howard M. Burgh, Sr. will be
31 deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his

1 wife, Irene; his children, Howard M. Burgh, Jr., Mary Ann
2 Sipsma, Christine Kocher, Brian Burgh, Gregory Burgh, and
3 Scott Burgh; and his seven grandchildren; therefore, be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6 we mourn, along with all who knew him, the death of Howard M.
7 Burgh, Sr. of Westchester, Illinois; and be it further
8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to the family of Howard M. Burgh, Sr. with our
10 sincere condolences.
