 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are pleased to recognize milestone events in
 4    the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and

 5        WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Heidi Voorhees
 6    is retiring from her duties as Village Manager of Wilmette in
 7    May 2001; and

 8        WHEREAS, Heidi Voorhees is a 1976  graduate  of  Guilford
 9    High  School,  a  1980 graduate of Illinois State University,
10    and a 1982 graduate of Indiana University  School  of  Public
11    and Environmental Affairs; and

12        WHEREAS,  Heidi Voorhees has served as Village Manager of
13    Wilmette since  October  1990;  in  addition  she  served  as
14    Assistant  Village  Manager  from  June  1986 through October
15    1990; and

16        WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Heidi Voorhees  has  made
17    it a point to give back to the city management profession; in
18    addition  to  serving  on  numerous  committees  in her local
19    government professional  associations  this  past  year,  she
20    served   as   Vice-President   of  the  Illinois  City/County
21    Management Association and as the first  Vice  President  for
22    the Chicago area Metro Managers Association; and

23        WHEREAS,   During   her  tenure  as  Village  Manager  of
24    Wilmette,  Heidi  Voorhees  was  the  recipient  of  numerous
25    awards, including the 2001 Outstanding Manager  of  the  Year
26    Award  from  the Illinois Association of Municipal Management
27    Assistants, the 2001 Citizen  of  the  Year  Award  from  the
28    Wilmette  Chamber  of  Commerce,  and  the 1998 Distinguished
29    Alumni Award from the  School  of  Public  and  Environmental
30    Affairs Department at Indiana University; and

31        WHEREAS,  Throughout  the course of her tenure as Village

 1    Manager, Heidi Voorhees has exhibited tireless dedication  to
 2    the  administration  of  the  Village  of Wilmette, Illinois,
 3    managed its affairs with  compassion,  skill,  and  devotion,
 4    guided  the  Village through several challenges, and provided
 5    dedication and leadership in the  highest  tradition  of  her
 6    profession; therefore, be it

 7        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 8    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 9    we congratulate Heidi Voorhees for her dedication and service
10    as Village Manager of Wilmette, Illinois,  and  we  wish  her
11    well in all of her future endeavors; and be it further

12        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
13    presented to Heidi Voorhees as an expression of our esteem.
