 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are pleased to recognize milestone events in
 4    the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and

 5        WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that after 25 years
 6    of service with the Homewood Fire Department, Assistant Chief
 7    Dan Rossi will be hanging up his coat, hat, and boots on  May
 8    24, 2001; and

 9        WHEREAS,  Dan  Rossi  has  served as a firefighter for 28
10    years, three of those years as  a  volunteer  firefighter  in
11    Frankfort; and

12        WHEREAS, Dan Rossi joined the Homewood Fire Department as
13    a  full-time  firefighter  in  1976, becoming a lieutenant in
14    1979;  he  was  promoted  to  Assistant  Chief  in  1997;  in
15    addition, he has served as  a  paramedic  since  1976  and  a
16    paramedic  coordinator  since  1977; he has run the paramedic
17    program in Homewood for 23 of its 27 year existence; and

18        WHEREAS, During his tenure, Dan Rossi has seen his  staff
19    double  to  its  current size of 50 employees; in addition he
20    has purchased additional customized ambulances  to  meet  the
21    need of the village; and

22        WHEREAS,  Dan  Rossi  has experienced many exciting times
23    during his tenure, including the delivery  of  three  babies;
24    and

25        WHEREAS,  Dan  Rossi's work has not gone unnoticed by his
26    peers or his supervisors; he was honored as  fireman  of  the
27    year in the mid-1980s; and

28        WHEREAS,  After  so  many years on the job, Dan Rossi has
29    attained a wealth  of  knowledge  to  pass  on  to  the  next
30    generation  of  firefighters and paramedics; over his 25 year

 1    career he has been on tens of thousands of calls and put  out
 2    hundreds  of  fires; he considers becoming a firefighter more
 3    than a job, but, rather, a lifestyle; and

 4        WHEREAS, On May 24, 2001, the  Homewood  Fire  Department
 5    will  honor  the distinguished 25-year service and dedication
 6    that Dan Rossi has given the Homewood  community;  therefore,
 7    be it

 8        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 9    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10    we congratulate Dan Rossi on his retirement from 25 years  of
11    dedication  and service as Homewood Fire Department Assistant
12    Chief and we wish him well in all of  his  future  endeavors;
13    and be it further

14        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
15    presented to Dan Rossi as an expression of our esteem.
