 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are pleased to recognize milestone events in
 4    the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and

 5        WHEREAS, It has come to  our  attention  that  Dr.  David
 6    Fields  is retiring after 41 years of service to the students
 7    of Danville School District 118; and

 8        WHEREAS, Dr. Fields earned his  bachelor's  and  master's
 9    degrees  from  Eastern  Illinois  University;  he  earned his
10    Doctorate   from    the    University    of    Illinois    at
11    Champaign-Urbana; and

12        WHEREAS,  Dr. Fields began his teaching career in 1960 in
13    the Social Studies Department at Danville High School;  after
14    one  year, he moved to Northridge where he served as a social
15    studies teacher; in 1964  he  moved  back  to  Danville  High
16    School  where  he served as a social studies teacher and from
17    1969 through 1972 as Dean of Men; in 1972 he became  Director
18    of Federal Funds; in 1973 he was appointed Principal at North
19    East  Elementary  School; he was later appointed Principal at
20    East Park High School where he remained until  1983  when  he
21    became  the Assistant Superintendent of Schools; in 1991, Dr.
22    Fields  was  selected  by  the  Board  of  Education  as  the
23    Superintendent of Schools; and

24        WHEREAS, While at Danville High School, Dr.  Fields  also
25    served  as  coach  of  Track and Field and Football, and as a
26    Student Council advisor; and

27        WHEREAS, Dr. Fields has served as  a  dedicated  teacher,
28    coach,  mentor,  and  principal  to many students and faculty
29    members in  School  District  118  during  his  41  years  of
30    service; therefore, be it

31        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE

 1    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 2    we congratulate Dr. David Fields on his  retirement  from  41
 3    years  of service to Danville School District 118 and we wish
 4    him well in all of his future endeavors; and be it further

 5        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 6    presented to Dr. David Fields as an expression of our esteem.
